Virtual Lab: Build & Query Secure S3 Data Lakes with Presto and Apache Ranger
Apache Ranger is an open source security framework that enables data security across your big data platform. Creating a data lake with Presto, the open source SQL query engine, and Apache Ranger is as simple as defining data sources and what data access and security policies you want to apply.
In this 90 minute hands-on lab, you’ll learn how to deploy Presto to query S3 and Apache Ranger to set up security policies on your data.
Come prepared to have your video on while following along with the instructor – this is an interactive session and we encourage participation from everyone attending!
Course outline:
- Intro to Presto and Apache Ranger
- Create and deploy a Presto cluster in AWS using Ahana Cloud
- Create a Presto user and create a Ranger policy for that user
- Add a data source and enable data authorization on that data source
- Attach that data source to Presto
- Query that data with Presto using fine-grained access policies
